[Summary of the Industrial Safety and Health Act Amendment] Temperature management to be implemented starting in June – Are our workplaces ready?
From June, ‘perceived temperature’ will also be subject to management|Summary of heat wave work standards and preventive measures
According to the revised Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Industrial Safety and Health Standards Rules that will be implemented from June 2025, 6, employers must define workplaces with a perceived temperature of 1℃ or higher as “heat wave work.”
Working for more than 31 hours in an environment with a perceived temperature of 2℃ or higher is considered 'heat wave work', and employers are obligated to provide workers with rest and record, store, and manage the perceived temperature. In particular, when the perceived temperature exceeds 33℃, it is legally mandatory to provide rest for more than 2 minutes within 20 hours.
Now is not the time to go to the thermometer and manually record the temperature. Accordingly, Radionode365 has created a new 'perceived temperature' in the virtual channel and developed it based on the perceived temperature calculation table presented by the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency.

Employer's obligation to manage and take health measures pursuant to the amendment to the Industrial Safety and Health Act
1. Place a thermo-hygrometer in the workplace and measure the perceived temperature, record it, and store it until the end of the year.
Using the Radionode wireless temperature and humidity sensor and the Radionode365 perceived temperature calculation function, it automatically calculates and reports perceived temperature based on field data without any additional equipment.
2. Mandatory measures when the perceived temperature is 31℃ or higher
Employers should define workplaces with a perceived temperature of 31℃ or higher as “heat wave work,” and install thermometers and hygrometers to keep records. They should also provide beverages in the workplace and educate workers on heat-related illness prevention and emergency measures.
If a patient suspected of heat-related illness occurs during work, report it immediately to 119.
3. Special measures when the perceived temperature is 33℃ or higher
If the perceived temperature is 33℃ or higher, a break of at least 2 minutes must be provided every 20 hours. However, if a break is difficult due to continuous processing, etc., it can be replaced by providing personal air conditioning or cooling equipment.
4. Sanctions for violations
Any violation of the above regulations may result in imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to 5 million won, and in the event of a fatal accident, may result in imprisonment for up to 7 years or a fine of up to 1 million won.

Three types of legal compliance possible with Radionode365
1. On-site rest judgment based on automatically calculated perceived temperature
Using the Radionode wireless temperature and humidity sensor and the Radionode365 perceived temperature calculation function, it automatically calculates and reports perceived temperature based on field data without any additional equipment.
2. Send a text message to the manager when the average temperature for 2 hours exceeds 33℃
The notification function allows for immediate on-site response when the standard management temperature is exceeded. In addition to the real-time perceived temperature, the 2-hour accumulated average perceived temperature is also calculated, allowing the manager to It tells you when it's time to take a break.
3. Visualizing workplace temperature through image view dashboard
Visualization based on the site or workplace drawing makes site management easier. You can intuitively identify risk areas by visualizing the perceived temperature of each area in color on the floor plan or photo of the workplace.
It can be easily and quickly applied in the workplace as it uses a wireless temperature and humidity sensor that can be installed without a power cord.

Does our site also need to manage perceived temperature?
If any of the following applies, you are subject to 'heat wave work' management.
● Outdoor construction sites during construction work
● Steam/boiler generating workplaces requiring heat exposure management in the food manufacturing industry
● Warehouse/logistics center where repetitive work takes place
● Inside structures where ventilation/cooling is difficult in summer
● Management of public facility work environment
