It is common to install temperature and humidity sensors in warehouses for dew point or quality control. Why did we need to install a gas sensor here? 

Have you ever received fresh food by courier? 

Due to the nature of the fresh products handled at Logistics Center A, it is crucial to maintain their quality until delivery to the end consumer. Therefore, logistics workers enclose dry ice when packaging goods in insulated bags. Consequently, a significant amount of dry ice —a mass of CO2 —is stored inside the work chamber . Because dry ice vaporizes immediately from a solid state and is odorless, it is difficult to detect exposure to carbon dioxide, posing a high risk of continuous, unprotected exposure. This can lead to oxygen deprivation , respiratory distress caused by carbon dioxide , and, in severe cases, even death by suffocation . Therefore, caution must be exercised to prevent safety accidents when handling dry ice .

According to industrial safety and health standards, the standard for carbon dioxide management in confined spaces is 1.5%, but Logistics Center A set the threshold at a much lower concentration to ensure stronger safety. 

We helped establish an operational system that enables workers to evacuate immediately if carbon dioxide levels in the workplace exceed control limits . This is achieved by having a large monitor display a red warning light and triggering an audible alarm with a flashing light . Furthermore, workplace air quality can be checked not only on-site but also in break rooms and offices. The intuitive air quality dashboard , which allows for immediate monitoring right on-site , received a positive response. Next year, we plan to install additional temperature and humidity sensors and expand the application of confined space management sensors to other centers. Since Radionode handles everything from sensor installation to monitoring system configuration, the workplace does not need to enter into a separate contract with a telecommunications provider for LTE communication.
